Where to search...
for
the information you are looking for? By looking at just how huge the Internet
is, this should be easy. However, most times we do not need what
the results tell us.. one
of the reasons is, search engines happen to be nothing else then dumb
databases, basically.
In the beginning
were link lists and bookmarks.
Later those
link lists became directories, and after that, when traffic became higher,
it was automated to get machines do the review. Those were the search
engines.
So it is
very important to understand that difference: Directories are human edited
reviews while search engines are automated results drawn from databases,
which indexes that have been build by robots, who automatically browse
and rank pages submitted to them.
For results where
you expect more results to sort through, directories will deliver better
results
So, if you
are looking for something that is rather rare, directories, will hardly
bring you the results you are looking for. The better choice is to use
one of the bigger search engines that have more pages indexed.
Another option
is a niche or special directory or search engine in that area of interest.
